Let Mamata Banerjee come in her individual <\/em>capacity <em>if she so wishes,<\/em>\u201d the court said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The apex court has been hearing two pleas challenging Aadhaar:-<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>One by the West Bengal government challenging the mandatory linking of Aadhaar to various schemes;<\/li>\n<li>Challenging Aadhaar\u2019s mandatory linking with mobile numbers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[amazon_link asins=&#8217;9350291681,9385493752,8170208300&#8242; template=&#8217;ProductCarousel&#8217; store=&#8217;wwwrtiwalain-21&#8242; marketplace=&#8217;IN&#8217; link_id=&#8217;1f7e356b-be77-11e7-8a23-dfa6d23a22e4&#8242;]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">What Are The Facts So Far for TMC?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The court has also issued a notice to the Centre on the plea challenging the <a href=\"https:\/\/rtiwala.com\/whats-all-about-rajinikanths-2-0-or-2point0\/#.WfjU4VtL_IV\">mandatory<\/a> linking of Aadhaar with mobile numbers. The Central Government has been asked to respond in four weeks. On 25 October, the Centre had told the court that it was willing to extend the deadline for linking Aadhaar to various schemes to 31 March next year. It was clarified that this would apply only to those who have not yet enrolled for Aadhaar. A total of <strong>22 cases<\/strong> have been tagged by the court to be heard by a smaller bench on Aadhaar. They challenge several aspects of Aadhaar. Kennedy Assassination Files Released<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 24 August, in a path-breaking ruling, the Supreme Court held that privacy is a fundamental right under the Constitution of India. The petitions are those involving making Aadhaar mandatory for social welfare benefits, infringement of the right to privacy. The challenges are also targeted towards making Aadhaar mandatory for filing income tax returns and for obtaining and retaining a permanent account number, or PAN. \u00a0A challenge to its linking to mobile phones will also be addressed by the court.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2031\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2031\" style=\"width: 467px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rtiwala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/36357250316_571574df3a_z.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2031\" src=\"https:\/\/rtiwala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/36357250316_571574df3a_z.jpg\" alt=\"Rw Trending Mamta Against Aadhar\" width=\"467\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2031\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Image Source: Wikipedia)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At a party meeting in Kolkata, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata had also\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesnownews.com\/india\/article\/mamata-banerjee-challenges-bjp-governments-aadhaar-push\/112481\">opposed the linking of Aadhaar with her\u00a0mobile phone number<\/a>. She said, &#8220;Aadhaar\u00a0number should not be linked with one&#8217;s mobile phone. The extension was to be applicable only for those who are yet to apply for Aadhaar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The apex court has made clear that a state cannot challenge a Parliamentary act. The court has directed Banerjee to file the plea in her personal capacity. This development comes as a big blow to the West Bengal CM.
