When and How the National Science Day?<\/span><\/h2>\n

National Science Day<\/span><\/a> came into existence in 1928 and is made to mark the discovery made by the <\/span>Indian physicist C.V.Raman<\/b> on his <\/span>\u2018Raman Effect<\/span><\/a>.\u2019 The <\/span>NCSTC<\/i><\/b><\/a> (National Council for Science and Technology Communication)<\/span><\/i> urged the Government of India to observe 28th February as National Science Day. Following year, in 1987, the first <\/span>NSD<\/i><\/b> (National Science Day) was celebrated. The event is celebrated all over the country in schools, colleges, universities, scientific, technical and medical institution.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why we celebrate National Science Day?<\/span><\/h3>\n

1]<\/strong>Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman<\/span><\/i> was awarded and honored with the <\/span>Nobel Prize in Physics<\/span><\/i><\/a> in the year 1930, for his great success in the field of Science in India. This discovery was for his work on the scattering of light, and it was named after him then.<\/span><\/p>\n

2] <\/strong>NCSTC<\/span><\/i> of <\/span>DST<\/i><\/b><\/a> (Department of Science and Technology)<\/span><\/i> is an agency that held to stimulate, populate and popularize the outstanding efforts in the area of Science and Technology. It catalyzes and coordinates the celebration of the NSD all over the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

3] <\/strong>National Award<\/span><\/a> also in the field of <\/span>Science and technology is of Rs.2,00,000\/-<\/span><\/i> (two lakh) whereas a standard <\/span>National Award consists of Rs.1,00,000\/-(one lakh)<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

4]<\/strong> There is always a theme based celebration every year. This year it is<\/span><\/i> \u201cScience for the people and People for the Science.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

5]<\/strong> Primary <\/span>objective of NSD<\/span><\/a> is to widely spread the message about the importance of science in our day to day lives. With the help of science, we have made our life easy and better.<\/span><\/p>\n

6]<\/strong> Since 2013, the <\/span>Raman Effect has been designated<\/b> as an <\/span>International Historic Chemical Landmark<\/span><\/i> by the <\/span>American Chemical Society<\/i><\/b><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some famous institutes that host events to mark the National Science Day<\/strong><\/p>\n

The <\/span>National Centre for Radio Astrophysics<\/span><\/a> (NCRA)<\/i><\/b> of Pune has set up The <\/span>Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope<\/span><\/a> (GMRT)<\/i><\/b> which is the <\/span>world\u2019s largest telescope<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Agharkar Research Institute<\/span><\/a>(Pune) will set up an exhibition that will put on display fossils, hybrid crops, medicinal plants, fungi, and lichens. This exhibits will be set up under \u2018<\/span>Innovate in India<\/span><\/a>,\u2019 \u2019<\/span>Swastha Bharat<\/span><\/a>\u2019 and \u2018<\/span>Clean India<\/span><\/a>.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

A questionnaire will be held for astrophysicist <\/span>Jayant Narlikar<\/b><\/a> at the <\/span>Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics<\/span><\/i>(Pune).<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Savitribai Phule Pune University<\/span><\/i><\/a> will host a heritage walk whereas the National Centre for \u00a0Cell Science<\/em> will host an open day for students to their labs.<\/span><\/p>\n
