Everything you should know about the Late Sridevi Kapoor

It’s been a year to the demise of Bollywood’s versatile actress Sridevi Kapoor. The actress died of an accidental drowning, on 24th February 2018. The industry had lost a beautiful soul of one the prominent actress.

Who was Sridevi, how her early life and childhood?

Sree Amma Yanger Ayyapan popularly known as Sridevi Kapoor was an Indian actress born on 13th August 1963 in the state of Tamil Nadu. Sridevi was a child to Ayyapan and Rajeshwari; her father was a lawyer. She has three other siblings to her, a sister and two step-brothers. She was married to the film producer Boney Kapoor with whom she has two daughters.

She made her film debut as a child artiste at the age of 4, in Kandhan Karunai a Tamil movie. Sridevi has worked in various languages Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam films. In one of the famous news journals, Sridevi has once said

“I lost out on going to school and college life, but I got into the film industry and worked without a gap – from a child actor, I went straight to the heroine. There was no time to think, and I was grateful for it.

She had already made a mark in the South Indian Cinema and worked with Jayalalitha and Adi Parashakti. She followed her path in the footsteps of Kamal Hassan and Rajinikanth and did some projects being unstoppable.

Sridevi ultimately made her debut in the Hindi cinema with Solva Sawan and earned for herself with the movie ‘Himmatwala’ opposite Jeetendra. Moreover, the duo again gave a smashing hit Tohfa the next year, that made rewarded Sridevi as ‘Thunder Thighs’. Sridevi then became the Diva for many aspiring newcomers, and her fashion sense of bejeweled outfits and headgears were always the center of attraction.

1] Sridevi played stepmother to Rajinikanth

In 1976, Tamil film Moondru Mudichu, she played  Rajinikanth’s stepmother role and was paid more than him.

2] When Rekha Ji dubbed for Sridevi

Sridevi was brought up in Madras, so when she entered Hindi cinema, she faced many difficulties while speaking Hindi. So, Rekha dubbed for her in several movies. Chandni was the first film where Sridevi has done her dubbing.

3] When Steven Speilberg offered Sridevi a role

Sridevi was obvious and particular about her status, so she respectfully denied Hollywood director Steven Speilberg’s, Jurassic Park.

4] Earned the title of first female Superstar

She had worked in 300 films in 5 decades of her acting career.

Not just a fine actor but she was known to be a responsible mother of two daughters. Her last movie ‘MOM’ was much appreciated. Bollywood faced ‘Sadma’ losing its beautiful ‘Chandni.’
