Register on the Passport Seva Portal
Start by visiting Passport Seva Online Portal or downloading the mPassport Seva app.
- Click “Register Now”.

- Confirm via email and OTP to activate your account.
Fill Out the Online Application
- Log in to your account.
- Choose your service: Fresh (first-time), Re-issue, or Tatkaal.
- Select passport type: 36-page or 60-page book.
- Fill in all personal and family details accurately.
- For minors, additional fields like parent info will appear
Upload Documents & Make Payment
The 2025 update mandates birth certificate for applicants born after October 1, 2023
- Proof of Date of Birth: Birth certificate, school certificate, etc.

- ID proof and old passport (if any)
Make payment (₹1,500 for 36 pages; add ₹2,000 for Tatkaal). Payment options include credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI .
Schedule Your Appointment
Once payment is made:
- Schedule an appointment at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office PSK (POPSK)
- You can reschedule or cancel up to twice within a year.
- Emergencies like medical cases may allow walk-ins per PSK discretion
Visit the PSK/POPSK for Verification
On appointment day:
- Carry original documents and self-attested copies (address, DOB proof, identity, old passport)
- Undergo document verification and submission.
- Biometric data (photo + fingerprints) and photo capture are done on-site.
Police Verification & Passport Dispatch
- Local police will verify your address (minor exceptions apply)
- After verification, the passport is printed—standard passports take up to 30 days; Tatkaal within 1‑3 days.
- Track your application on the portal with ARN; delivery is via speed post using barcode and tracking services
