Nitish Kumar, his childhood and Political career
Once a top PM contender and rival of PM Modi, now the biggest supporter and leader of the allied Party. He is the undisputed leader from Bihar, Nitish Kumar.
Nitish Kumar was born on 1 March 1951 at Bakhtiyarpur(situated 50 km from Patna, the capital of Bihar)and belonged from Kurmi family. His mother, Smt. Parmeshwari Devi and father Shri Ram Lakhan Singh was an ayurvedic practitioner and a well-known face of that area. He did his schooling in Bakhtiyarpur from Ganesh High School, after doing matriculation he took admission at Patna Science College. Later he did a degree course in electrical engineering from Bihar College of Engineering (now known as NIT Patna).

On 22 February 1973, he married Smt. Manju Sinha, who was a teacher by profession but unexpectedly she died in the year 2007 at the age of 53 years. They have a son Nishant, who graduated from BIT Mesra College, Jharkhand.
How and When Nitish Kumar got into Politics?
He entered in politics when he became the President of the Yuva Lok Dal, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Lok Dal. After that, his career in politics never stopped and from 24th November 2005 time he was elected as 31st Chief Minister of Bihar till 24 November 2010, and again from 26 November 2010 – 17 May 2014 (32nd CM ), 22 February 2015 -till date elected as 34th CM of Bihar.

1] His favorite pastimes other than reading newspapers are reading books and watching films.
2] He is awarded as the Best Chief Minister in India according to the HT State of the Nation Poll 2007 and CNN IBN.
3] Under his leadership, Bihar has been developing quite drastically as it was listed as the second highest in poverty reduction among other states in the country.
4] Bihar shows the second-highest GSDP(Gross State Domestic Product ) growth rate in the country during his rule.
5] Many schemes like meals and bicycle programs were introduced in the state to encourage girls to join a school. Every girl student is given free bicycle which helps in reducing the dropout rate of girls in school.
6] He served as union minister of State for Agriculture in the V P Singh Government.
