Among the best schools in India, The Doon School-Dehradun stands first in a row

Founded in 1935 at the lush green valley of Dehradun, a full boarding boys school, and if you’re wishing to enroll your daughter then please scroll down at earliest. According to them, the greatest strengths of the school spring from the quality of the human relationships throughout the community and the sense of companionship that these engender.

We’re quite surprised by the facilities they’re offering to their students at very early stages, from Auditorium to Shooting Range and Wellness Center, Music to Art & Media School. But what we liked most is The Rose Bowl: The Rose Bowl is an iconic part of the school’s landscape and history. This amphitheater was originally built by the first cohorts of boys in the school in the late 1930s and early 1940s. In 2009-11, the facility was completely rebuilt and is a stunning venue for plays, musicals, assemblies, and prize-giving ceremonies.

Interesting fact: You can also register for your new-born “baby boy” or till he achieves the age of 13 by paying the registration fee of just ₹ 12,000 to ₹ 36,000 ($ 600-1800 US for NRIs) but Registration does not guarantee admission. Well admission in the Doon is really a sort of mission for parents as privilege is given to children of alumnus and who’s who of our country.

Scholarships:

The current scholarship program offered by Doon School is on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the entrance examination and later the interview. Financial Aid (means-tested awards), ranges from limited financial support to awards worth 100%+ to support parents who would not be able to afford to send their son to The Doon School. The system also applies to scholars whose parents need further financial support to enable their son to attend The Doon School.

Located in the same valley of Dehradun and founded 22 years later to TDS, the Welham Girl’s School (WGS) is top most fully residential schools for girls. The Welham community has grown from ten girls at its inception in 1957 to its current strength of 600 girls. The alumnae of the school have carved a niche for themselves globally and within India, yet the spirit to ‘give and not count the cost’ remains unchanged.

Being one of the Top 3 Schools in India, Welham Girls’ School’s fee is quite high but comparatively less than the Doon School^TM.

WGS also follows a rigorous admission procedure just like any other Top Schools in India. There are long waiting period and uncertainty.

Admissions are offered in Classes VI, VII and XI only, subject to the availability

of seats. The lower age limit for admission in the School is 10½ on 1st April of the year of joining the School in Class VI. Similarly, correlation of age and class to which admission is sought is an essential requirement.

In Class XI, admission is on the basis of Board Examination results and an Aptitude/Proficiency Assessment to be held in the 1st week of June and subsequent qualification on the Merit List. The school allows students to take subjects across the three streams: Humanities, Commerce, and Science.

It is affiliated to the CBSE, IPSC & NPSC.  Delhi Public School R.K. Puram is one of the Top 3 co-educational day-cum-boarding school in India, with about 9,500 students on its rolls. These children, in the Junior and Senior branches, study in the three different campuses at East of Kailash, Vasant Vihar, and R.K.Puram. The school is among the most distinguished members of the Delhi Public School Society. It is a path breaker in the pursuit of excellence.

The Admission process for this school is quite cumbersome and complicated. which happens to classes 9 & 11. Whereas Admissions for Class Nursery and 1 can be done at DPS East of Kailash and Vasant Vihar. Only 108 out of 216 and 90 out of 180 seats are available for Gen Category students. That too directly proportional to the proximity of your residence to the school site.

The list of famous alumni of DPS RK Puram is quite long. From Top Entrepreneurs, Rohit Bansal and Kunal Bahl to Randeep Hooda and Kirti Sanon and Raghuram Rajan was also its alumnus.
