Whenever someone calls Jeep! Suddenly, the image of an outdated Mahindra’s Indian SUV flashes on our mind. All of us have seen that in our childhood particularly in rural areas and countryside but Jeep Compass is the new thing! You’ll be surprised to know that Mahindra & Mohammed (later became Mahindra & Mahindra), has locally manufactured (mostly assembled) their first SUV, on June 3rd, 1949. The first Willys Overland Jeep built in India by M&M Ltd. at the Assembly Plant, Mazagaon, Mumbai. And, they are still relevant to many, who are using it on a day-to-day basis. They sold many models from Wily MB and Jeep Station Wagon to the Armored version as well.

Not only of country consumption they also Exported to other countries as well, that too way back in the late 1960s. As the below image of Vehicles, export begins in 1969 and the first shipment is sent to Yugoslavia.

What’s new about Jeep and Jeep Compass?

Now everyone has been asking that but not everyone knows about it! Jeep^TM is a brand of American automobiles that is a division of FCA US LLC (formerly Chrysler Group, LLC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The former Chrysler Corporation acquired the Jeep brand, along with the remaining assets of its owner American Motors, in 1987. The division is headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. America’s famous SUV manufacturer, Jeep’s current product range consists solely of sport utility vehicles and off-road vehicles but has also included pickup trucks in the past.

So there’s the status of pride attached to this 75 year of Off-Roader vehicle brand, not only in India but across the world.

Why all of sudden so much Buzz about Jeep?

Recently, Jeep as re-entered in the Indian market nearly after the gap of two decades and launched three models so far. Those were not only costly but above the reach of even the SUV enthusiast. So today FCA India today launched the Made-in-India Jeep Compass at a starting price of Rs 14.95 lakh (ex-Delhi). And, it will be manufactured in FCA’s joint venture manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon, near Pune, and is made of 65% locally sourced components.

The latest model of the Jeep was one of the most anticipated models by Car Lovers and Buyers, alike. Jeep Compass will give direct competition to Mahindra’s XUV and Hyundai SUVs – Creta & Tucson!
