Sushma Swaraj at the United Nation Session Historic. How?
RTIwala Trends: Sushma Swaraj at United Nations General Assembly, Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj rejected allegations by Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the world body earlier in the week in which he accused India of state-sponsored terrorism, and violating human rights. At its 72nd edition, Sushma Swaraj at United Nations General Assembly session on Saturday, Swaraj catechized Pakistani leaders to ruminate as to why India is recognized as a global IT superpower, while Pakistan is infamous as the “pre-eminent export factory for terror”.

In continuation of her speech, Sushma Swaraj at United Nation said that the nations were separated at the same time and had the same opportunities, same resources to make a better place for their people, But now, all it takes is a mere glance to spot the difference between the two nations, the reason being quoted very clearly by Sushma Swaraj in her speech, she says, ‘We established scientific and technical institutions, which are the pride of the world. But what has Pakistan offered to the world and indeed to its own people apart from Jihadis and Terrorist Organizations.’
Sushma Swaraj at United Nation: Pakistan Hits back
After a historic speech by Sushma Swaraj at the UNGA, Pakistan, after a certain line of thoughts came up with some seemingly interesting rebuttals,
- “India is the Mother of Terrorism in South Asia”
- “India’s leadership emanates from RSS, which is the same extremist group accused of assassinating Mahatma Gandhi”
- “Current political luminaries in India belong to an organization that has the blood of thousands of Muslims of Gujarat on their hands”.

We request our readers to be the judge on rebuttals as pointless as these. The counterpoints put forth by Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, did nothing more than making it easier for the people of Pakistan to understand the sort of jurisdiction and leadership they are under. Pakistan’s U.N. envoy Maleeha Lodhi also accused New Delhi of promoting terrorism against Islamabad, violation of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir and the spread of Hindu nationalism. She added by saying, “If the international community wishes to avoid a dangerous escalation between India and Pakistan, it must call on India to halt its provocations and aggressive actions”.
Sushma Swaraj at United Nation: Why is Arundhati Roy Invoked?
Pakistan has invoked acclaimed Indian novelist Arundhati Roy to attack External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s UN General Assembly speech where she denounced Islamabad as the “world’s greatest exporter of havoc, death, and inhumanity”. Rummaging into Indian politics, Lodhi also borrowed the standard lines of a section of Indian secularists, which described Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government as “fascist” and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath as a “fanatic”.
She went on mentioning a quote from Roy’s November 2015 statement: “These horrific murders are only a symptom. Life is hell for the living too. The whole population of Dalits, Adivasis, Muslims, and Christians are being forced to live in terror, unsure of when and from where the assault would come”. Roy, who won the 1997 Booker Prize for her novel, “The God of Small Things”, recently published her second novel, “The Ministry of Utmost Happiness”, which unlike her first is political.

Pakistan envoy Maleeha Lodhi brandished a photo of a woman whose face was peppered with wounds and said, “This is the face of Indian democracy.” Her attempt to malign India took no time to backfire when the photo flashed by her was revealed as a fake. The woman shown in the photo was a Gazan woman, having absolutely no link with Kashmir or even India for that matter.
The woman is Rawya Abu Jom’a, she was wounded during the 2014 war in Gaza.
Pakistan’s envoy Maleeha Lodhi didn’t leave any stone unturned in her attempt of villainizing India, but her last attempt resulted as the boomerang. The mere fact that Pakistan is ready to go to any extent when it comes to maintaining their superficial social image, depict how hollow they are. As per Sushma Swaraj at United Nation, “Pakistan should focus on wellbeing and goodwill of their Country and their People, and not wasting their resources in funding terrorist organizations and afterward be defending themselves”.
