RTIwala Trending: There has been major fallout surrounding the House of Cards actor, Kevin Spacey and Netflix. Netflix has said it will no longer work with the actor at all. There are sexual assault allegations against Spacey.
In a statement, a Netflix spokesperson said: “Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC [House of Cards production company, Media Rights Capital] during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.”

It’s not clear what that means for the sixth season of House of Cards. The process of production had been underway at the time the allegation was made against Spacey. It’s a known fact that how central Spacey’s character, Congressman Frank Underwood, is to the show, it’s going to be a big deal. The producers are considering killing off Underwood or possibly moving to spin-off shows that focus on other characters.

Netflix and Spacey encounter
Netflix severing ties with Spacey follows an account by actor Anthony Rapp. He had alleged that the older actor made a sexual advance towards him when Rapp was only 14 and Spacey was 26. Spacey’s response to the allegation has been to say he does not “remember the encounter”, and also to say that: “If I did behave the way he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.” Also, there are reports that eight current or former “House of Cards” workers claim that Spacey made the production a “toxic” workplace. One ex-employee alleges the actor sexually assaulted him.

The 58-year-old Spacey was nominated for the Best Drama Actor at Emmy Awards during each of the show’s first five seasons. He played a ruthless politician who ascends to the presidency of the United States. Co-star Robin Wright is also a central player on the show, and it could conceivably continue with a focus on her. Netflix says it also will refuse to release the film “Gore,” in which Spacey stars as the writer Gore Vidal and also acts as producer.
What is in store for Spacey?
Spacey has not been arrested or charged with any crime. Family Guy episode from 2005 hinted at rumors about Kevin Spacey. British police is investigating the sexual assault allegation against Kevin Spacey. London police is reportedly investigating Spacey for a 2008 sexual assault. The story spurred several others to come forward with similar allegations about Spacey.
Police did not identify Spacey by his name but said the department’s sexual offenses unit is investigating the reported assault after it was referred to police earlier this week. Spacey is the latest high profile Hollywood figure to lose work and standing in a wave that began when dozens of sexual harassment allegations were reported last month against film mogul Harvey Weinstein.
